Ceramics
Course Description - This course provides students with the knowledge and opportunity to explore ceramics and to create individual works of art. Particular attention is paid to the fundamental clay forming techniques of pinch, coil, slab and wheel, the characteristics of the raw materials, their transformation under heat, and the various methods used to create and finish ceramic objects.
September- All students will be working on an intro project of the Elements and principles of design and pinch pot construction
October- Students will be continuing with their pinch pot projects, we will also start to explore glazing
November-Students have started large coil pots, and we will be continuing our exploration of glazing
December-Large coil pots are finished, and construction has begun on slab constructed clay boxes
January-Slab construction continues!
February- Students have finished their slab constructed boxes and have started their three decorated plates
October- Students will be continuing with their pinch pot projects, we will also start to explore glazing
November-Students have started large coil pots, and we will be continuing our exploration of glazing
December-Large coil pots are finished, and construction has begun on slab constructed clay boxes
January-Slab construction continues!
February- Students have finished their slab constructed boxes and have started their three decorated plates
