Advanced Ceramics
Course description-Prerequisites: Introduction to Ceramics and teacher recommendation This course enables students to expand their knowledge and expertise in ceramics to create more unique and individual works of art. Particular attention will be paid to having students develop their own artist voice using the ceramic medium. Advanced firing, glazing and clay techniques will be explored.
September-We worked on Fairey Houses for the Florence Griswold Museum, the project culminated with a fabulous field trip to the museum to set up our village
October - Students are creating three pieces of pottery for our outdoor pit fire in November
November- Big Month! Thursday the 18th we will be having our outdoor pit fire, and students are working on stacked slab wheel projects
December-Mid term Artist project given, Students have chosen an artist and created a piece in that artists style
January-Finished up Midterm projects, and now work has begun on a kitchen set, three Kitchen pieces student choice
February- Work continues on kitchen pieces
March-Field Trip!!! We will be going on an all day field trip to Wesleyan potters to work on our wheel skills!
